Free Wine Training for Convenience Store Workers
Henry of Pelham wines are now available at thousands of convenience stores across Ontario. We want to make sure every store is well-equipped to serve their customers, not only with great wine, but great wine knowledge and service. That’s why we’re offering a free official wine training course to all Ontario convenience store, corner store, general store, and grocery store workers through our Convenience Store Sommeliers program.

As a Convenience Store Sommelier, you’ll learn about all types of wine, the winemaking process, how to guide a tasting, recommended pairings, and everything you’ll need to provide your customers the best wine, and best wine expertise.
Offered through the Wine Appellations of Ontario, this course is designed to offer a comprehensive introduction to Ontario's unique wine regions, helping you better understand the stories, climates, and varietals that make our wines so special.
Whether you're a wine enthusiast or just beginning to expand your expertise, we're confident this course will provide you with the tools to navigate and appreciate Ontario’s wines.

Henry of Pelham wants to help newly licensed retailers become more knowledgeable about wine. To this end, HOP is pleased to make available the Ontario Craft Wineries course to individuals licensed to sell wine at Ontario's newly licensed convenience and grocery stores . Individuals approved for the promotion will receive an Ontario Craft Wineries course book valued at $35 + HST, and access to the course exam at their option. All registered participants will be able, upon completion of the course, to take an online test, and those who achieve a score of 86% or higher will receive a Certificate of Merit.
To be eligible, individuals must be at least 19 years of age, legally permitted to sell wine in Ontario, and employed at an Ontario retailer licensed to sell alcohol as verified by HOP. Up to 100 courses are available to be claimed. This offer is valid until December 31, 2024. Applicants will be required to confirm eligibility and complete a skill testing question prior to receiving the course materials. Henry of Pelham reserves the right to modify or revoke this offer at any time without notice. Course materials received by participants are theirs to keep.
