Toronto’s premier international dance festival, Fall for Dance North Festival in partnership with FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre, present Heirloom, the inaugural dance series presented outdoors at Henry of Pelham Family Estate Winery.
Grounded in the rhythms of percussive dance, the double bill presentation will open with a world premiere from Montreal dancer and choreographer Sandy Silva, whose dance practice engages the percussive traditions of Hungary, Appalachia, Cape Breton and Andalusia. Silva will be accompanied by Montreal guitarist Rick Haworth. Concluding the programme will be the Ontario premiere of a new FFDN-commissioned collaboration between acclaimed U.S. solo artists Caleb Teicher and Nic Gareiss, who draw from tap, jazz, swing, Lindy Hop, Appalachian clogging and Irish step dance, seamlessly weaving witty informality with virtuosic technique and storytelling.
