BACK VINTAGES RELEASE

Over the years we have been building our cellar for re-releases of some of our top wines in particularly good vintages.  This release is only available to our Distinctions Wine Club members.  We will have them shipped to your home or office or you are welcome to reserve them for pick up at the winery on your next visit.  Due to this first selection’s limited quantity (5-case lots only), there will be a six-bottle limit per customer per wine.

1999 SPECK FAMILY RESERVE CHARDONNAY SOLD OUT!

DESCRIPTION: Minerally crisp with intense concentration.

WINEMAKER'S NOTES: The vines which provided the fruit for this wine were planted by hand, by the Speck brothers in 1988. This block of our vineyard consistently produces outstanding fruit. The yield was limited to less than 2 tonnes per acre. 40% new Allier barrels and 60% one year old barrels provide the background compliment to a very fine yet concentrated and well structured wine.

WINEMAKER'S NOTES: The allure of this variety is its paradoxical qualities. It is transparent, light and delicate while at the same time rich and complex. Aromas of raspberry and fragrant herbs are followed by tangy cherry flavours, lingering into a finish, which becomes more complex with age.

1998 RIESLING RESERVE

AWARDS
SILVER MEDAL: All-Canadian Wine Championships

DESCRIPTION: “... is produced from the best riesling grapes available in the family owned vineyards.  There’s an implicit sweetness, resulting from the ripeness of the grapes.  At the same time, the wine is austere, with tremendous potential for the next decade.” Konrad Ejbich (Eye Magazine)

WINEMAKER'S NOTES: 80% from Henry of Pelham Estate. Cool fermentation using several selected yeast strains fermented separately, then re-blended for complexity. Typical bench Riesling characteristics of citrus, lemon oil textures and vibrant length. This style of wine is very ageworthy over a period of at least 10 years from vintage date. One of the wines which we consider to be a Henry of Pelham signature wine, being a winemaking focal point since our first vintage.
