2009 Family Tree White

our wine /

Description

“There are four grapes here, part of the recently launched Family Tree line from Henry of Pelham based on both estate-grown and purchased fruit. Viognier, chadonnay, gewürztraminer and chardonnay musqué combine to make a medium full-bodied wine with a rounded texture and attractively floral quality. Silky and peach-like, it’s ideal for Indian curries.” 88 points

“This dishes up a world of value and loads of flavour. Aromas of exotic spice, lychee and soft citrus provide segue to glorious waves of ripe-fruit-filled flavour with pineapple, tropical fruit and white peach to the fore. It’s mid weight with good mouth feel and a balanced aftertaste of lip-smacking lemon-lime tang. Crisp and refreshing on its own, it’s a natural with appetizers or mains of seafood, fish, veal or chicken.” 4 stars (out of 5)

We can’t choose our family. We also can’t make our soil or predict the weather. So we adapt to them all and in the process discover something about the people, the soil and the weather nature gives us. Part of that adaptation is working with brothers, cousins, friends and neighbours who have unique and different vineyard sites and grape varieties. From small family farms, great wines. This is our Speck Family Tree.
